Woodland Residence

About This Project

This beautiful modernist residence was designed by the studio of Walter Gropius. Our plan enhanced the site’s architecture through minimalist clean geometrical hardscape and contrasting massed gardens. Granite curbs were designed to serve as stairs taking one from the patio to the lower garden. Stonewall terraces were built on the right and left sides of the patio to accommodate the 10-foot drop in elevation and provide room for small dynamic gardens.

After Bertha designed our driveway and retaining walls, we recognized her keen eye and talent for blending aesthetics and function. We expanded our project significantly and Bertha transformed our previously disconnected yard into an indoor-outdoor space that matched our taste and the style of our contemporary home - D.S.
