The dried garden, situated in a rental unit in Cambridge, MA, serves three different units requiring access. The owner desires beauty without the burden of traditional lawn maintenance and irrigation costs. My suggestion was to transform the space into a sustainable landscape by utilizing pea-stone and gravels for texture alongside native, drought-tolerant planting materials. This approach minimizes water usage, only requiring watering during the initial two years to establish roots. The incorporation of tall grasses provides a natural border, that blocks the view of the parking area. The perennial planting ensures a vibrant display, with colors evolving throughout the seasons.
